From Our Family Worker

27/01/12 I want to tell you about a project for our Church

I took holiday over the Christmas period so I haven’t much Family Worker news to share with you this month.

I want to tell you about a project for our Church Anniversary celebration (early June) which I am co-ordinating partly with my Family Worker hat on and partly with my congregational one.

I am hoping to produce a book/booklet of our spiritual experiences. As a congregation we are such a treasure chest of life! It will be a wonderful celebration of God’s touch in our lives and an opportunity to give thanks and praise to our life-giving Father and be an encouragement to each other.

I know from those of you who have shared your stories with me in confidence, that some of you will want to remain anonymous and that is absolutely fine. Of course we must agree to respect people’s privacy and not play ‘who’s who’ guessing games. These are deeply personal experiences and sharing them can be real source of inspiration and encouragement to others. Sometimes we dismiss happenings in our life as insignificant; hearing how others perceive experiences they have had can give us a different perspective on our own lives and maybe help us to value things differently.

How wonderful it would be to have a contribution from every one in our church! What a book that would make!

Do share your story, and help inspire and encourage others.

Here are some questions which may help you focus your thoughts and ideas about what you might share:-

How did I ‘come to faith’?
Is there a particular time when I felt God’s touch in my life or saw it in the life of another person?
How has my faith helped me?
Have I had any experience which I would call ‘supernatural’ or when I have been aware of the presence of angels, Jesus or the Holy Spirit?
What would I like to thank God for?
What does God mean to me?
  • Max 150-200 words each entry, but could be just a few lines.
  • Can be handwritten or typed.
  • Can be more than one entry.
  • Please make it clear if you wish to remain anonymous but I will need your name in case I have to check anything with you.
  • I may not be able to include all entries.
  • Entries to me directly, or in ‘M’ in the foyer, by post or ring me for my email address.
I hope this will be a wonderful celebration and offering to our Heavenly Father and a gift of love and encouragement to one another. I pray for God’s blessing on this project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!
With love, Deborah
